Lakewood United U8 Academy
LUFC’s U8 Academy is a Developmental program to create a pathway from recreational soccer to travel soccer. The program is designed specifically for children with a birth year of 2017.
Program Includes: The Program includes (18) 60 min Training Sessions, 8 game indoor soccer league (Jan-Feb) & Uniform shirt. The Boys and Girls will have separate training sessions and Teams in the indoor soccer league.
Training Schedule Dates 2024-2025:
November 6, 13, 20
December 4, 11, 18
January 8, 15, 22, 29 (+ weekend indoor match)
February 5, 12, 19, 26 (+ weekend indoor match)
March 5, 12, 19, 26 (+ weekend indoor match)
Training Times: Girls 6:30-7:30 pm Boys 7:30-8:30 pm
Training Location: Harding Middle School Gym 16601 Madison Ave
Game Schedule: Games will be on Saturdays in January and February 2024. Official Schedule with Game times will be released in late December.

John Stalzer
Director of Coaching, LUFC
John is native to Lakewood and played soccer at the highest levels throughout his youth. He started playing with Lakewood Soccer Association (LSA) early on and progressed to multiple club teams in the area as he grew older. John played soccer at Lakewood High School where he was a 3 yr starter with the varsity team and was named Captain his senior year. John also played football at both Lakewood High School and Yale University, where he used his soccer skills as the placekicker.
John has extensive experience in the coaching field, where he is the current coach of the Lakewood High Girls JV team and Assistant Coach for the Varsity team. He has also worked with various other neighboring communities and helped start their developmental programs, starting with the U8 Academy; where all programs have been hugely successful and have fostered significant growth in player development and improvement.
John currently holds a USSF "C" License and a USSF “Y” (Youth) License as a soccer coach as well as the United Soccer Coaches - Level 1 Goal Keeper Diploma and United Soccer Coaches - Club and Player Development certificate. He prides himself on helping young children develop soccer skills and fostering their love of the game.
John is extremely excited to return to his home community and to have the opportunity to take the skills and experience he has developed and nurtured with other Club teams and Communities and help Lakewood by starting the U8 Academy with LUFC.
